The Minerva Network continues to make strides in its mission to positively impact the next generation of women athletes and leaders by partnering with nib.

The Minerva Network and nib share a passion for improving public health outcomes and delivering social benefit to the wider community. Minerva Network Chairman and co-founder Christine McLoughlin AM said the partnership will bring a range of benefits to both organisations.

“We look forward to jointly developing our ideas and shaping the initiative to enhance our social impact, and the broader effects of athlete role models as they positively influence the next generation.”

“Minerva can reinforce the guiding values of nib around openness, trust, and integrity by demonstrating a real commitment to diversity through empowering the next generation of women leaders,” she said.

nib Chief Executive Australian Residents Health Insurance, Ed Close, said the partnership with the Minerva Network recognises nib’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in sport.

“We’re excited to partner with the Minerva Network to continue to support the next generation of female athletes, so they have the best opportunity at a successful career both on and off the field,” Mr Close said.

“As principal partner of three elite women’s teams across AFLW, NRLW and Super Rugby Aupiki, we know participation in and interest in women’s sport is growing and investment in their development is important. Just last week, it was announced that the first AFLW match of the season is being moved to a bigger venue at Marvel Stadium with a capacity of 53,000 after tickets sold out within a day.

It’s important both current and aspiring athletes take advantage of this momentum and better understand how to maximise their opportunities for a successful career in sport.  Through our support of the Minerva Network and their mentorship program, we hope to encourage more of this and help continue to pave the way for greater representation of women and diversity in sport,” he said.

The Minerva Network currently supports more than 280 athletes from more than 55 sports and has an ambitious target to reach 1,000 athletes by 2025.

The Network also includes more than 200 mentors from a diverse range of experiences across Australia’s corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors, from industries including media, financial services, agriculture, legal, tourism, technology, science, resources, education, retail, FMCG and health.

The two year partnership between Minerva and nib was established following nib Group Executive – Legal and Chief Risk Officer, Roslyn Toms’ involvement in Minerva’s mentorship program with Newcastle Knights Scholarship recipient, Jemma Smith in 2021.

nib is the latest business to partner with the Minerva Network and joins existing partners including Accenture and Aurecon.
