Jemma Smith

Jemma Smith is a Nutri-Grain Ironwoman, Kayaker and Ocean Ski Paddler who has enjoyed a variety of successes across all three sports. Debuting in the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman Series at the age of 17, Smith has raced in the Series for the past 4 years placing on the podium numerous times. She has also captained the Australian Youth Surf Life Saving Team on 2 occasions, and has been named the Australian SLS Youth Athlete of the Year three times and Female Competitor of the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships on two occasions.In 2019, Jemma continued her good form winning the U23 World Ocean Ski Champion title. She also represented Australia at the U23 World Kayaking Championships, placing 6th in the K1 1000m. She finished off the year with a close 2nd place in the gruelling Coolangatta Gold. For her achievements throughout the year, she was named the University of Newcastle Sportsperson of the Year for 2019.Whilst training and competing, Jemma managed to be awarded Dux of her year at Central Coast Grammar School in Years 10, 11 and 12. She is currently studying full-time at the University of Newcastle, doing a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) to become a PDHPE and Mathematics teacher.
