There was incredible energy in Melbourne earlier this week, when Minerva held its end of year networking event, connecting leaders in sport and business.

Hosted by Norton Rose Fulbright the event brought together Minerva Athletes, Mentors and Sporting Leaders from across Victoria and interstate.

The valuable attributes of athletes was a key theme for the evening, which started with an athlete workshop hosted by Minerva Athlete and Blackbird Investor Christie Jenkins. Christie led the interactive discussion with Cale Hooker (former AFL athlete and investor/entrepreneur) and Olivia Doherty (former Australian Handball athlete and Community Expert at Tractor Ventures) and shared their journeys in the world of start ups and why athletes thrive in this space.

Later in the evening, a wider group of mentors and sporting leaders joined the group, and we were welcomed by Kate Palmer AM, Minerva VIctoria Chapter Leader, and Alison Deitz, Chief Executives Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright.  Minerva Mentor and Brave Feminine Leadership founder Melissa Hamilton hosted a conversation with Minerva Athlete and Paralympian Alexandra Viney on leadership and recognising that athletes are already ahead of the game when it comes to leadership skills.

Melissa shared after the event "I loved the conversation with Alexandra Viney. Elite Athletes are incredibly special and there are so many strong leadership attributes that our corporate sector can learn from. Impressive and ahead of the game."

Minerva thanks Norton Rose Fulbright and all of our speakers and guests.
