A proud Wagga Wagga native who came through the Netball NSW pathway way to debut for the NSW Swifts in 2022, Sophie Fawns is one of the most exciting up-and-coming attackers in Suncorp Super Netball.
The 19-year-old realised a dream when she became Swift No.101 when making her elite netball debut against the Melbourne Vixens in Round 2 last year.
Since then, she has more than held her own in the world’s best netball competition, playing alongside famous international athletes such as Helen Housby, Sam Wallace, Romelda Aiken-George and Paige Hadley, and facing down the best defenders in the game.
A long-range shooting expert, Fawns is known for making clutch shots under pressure as well as her brilliant ball movement in the attacking circle.
One of four sisters, Fawns is a proud regional athlete who often made the long trip to Sydney to ensure she could make the most of the opportunities that came her way.
A childhood fan of the Swifts, the NSW’s most celebrated female sports team, it is her aim to one day don the famous Green & Gold of the Australian Diamonds and follow in the footsteps of former Swifts and Diamonds greats Cath Cox, Susan Pettitt and Caitlin Thwaites.
