Sam Mostyn AO

Sam Mostyn AO is a businesswoman and sustainability adviser, with a long history of executive & governance roles across business, sport, climate change, the arts, policy, and NFP sectors.

She is currently Chair of Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce and serves on boards of Mirvac, Climate Change Authority and Beyond Blue. Sam has a broad portfolio of other roles including chairing ANROWS, Alberts, Ausfilm, AIIW, Aware Super, FYA and the Centre for Policy Development. For many years she has been a member of the Australian Faculty of Cambridge University’s Business & Sustainability Leadership Program; and was a commissioner with the UN Global Business and Sustainable Development Commission.

Sam was awarded the Order of Australia in 2021 for distinguished service to business and sustainability, and to the community, through seminal contributions to a range of organisations, and to women. In 2018 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by ANU in recognition of her work as a pioneer of gender inclusion and equity, and leadership in sustainability and climate change.

In 2005 Sam was the first woman to be appointed to the AFL Commission where she was an advocate for the inclusion of women at all levels of the game, and a strong voice for the creation of the AFL Women’s league. She has continued to champion the role of women in sport, co-founding the Minerva Network.
