Rebecca Beeson

Rebecca Beeson is an inaugural AFLW player for the GWS Giants. Growing up in a rugby league heartland on the Central Coast of NSW, she was only introduced to AFL football at the age of 12 after her familytemporarily relocated to Perth.

Rebecca is one of only two Giants to have played every game for the club since the AFLW competition began in 2017, and in 2019 she was awarded the Gabrielle Trainor Medal for the Giants Best and Fairest player. Although currently residing in Sydney, Rebecca has previously lived in Melbourne, playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the VFL competition in 2018 and 2019.

Outside of football, Rebecca graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2019 with a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Media (PR& Advertising). She is currently working for the University in a Student Recruitment and Ambassador role, and is passionate about mentoring young female athletes as they juggle their sporting endeavours with their university studies.

She also coaches women's AFL at both the senior and youth level, and in 2020 established the Bec Beeson Academy for talented female footballers aged between 14-18 based in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

Rebecca is also a keen writer, sharing her story on her blogsite and has previously published columns in The Guardian Australia.
