Michelle has 25+ years’ experience in the events, sports and design industries in Australia as well as across the Asia Pacific and United Kingdom. Her background is in Marketing, Communications and Business Development.
Michelle has a passion for sport and joined specialist architecture and design firm Populous in mid-2014, having moved to the UK so she and her family could experience life living and working overseas.
While there, Michelle joined the board of AFL Europe, working in a voluntary capacity as a Commissioner to support the work of the 22 member nations.
Returning to Brisbane in 2016, Michelle transferred with Populous to Head of Marketing – APAC and was fortunate to work with the design teams responsible for some of the Region’s most loved sports and entertainment venues including Suncorp Stadium, ICC Sydney and GMHBA Stadium.
Her background includes ten years with the Australian Football League, working to grow the game in the ‘emerging markets’ of NSW, ACT, QLD and the NT. A major highlight during this time was the creation of the Gold Coast SUNS and the Sydney Swans 2012 Premiership win.
Prior to joining the AFL, Michelle spent five years developing and implementing the marketing and communications strategies to support Australia’s Centenary of Federation celebrations in 2001 including branding, communications campaigns, national TV broadcasts and media coverage as well as community activity in towns across New South Wales throughout the year.
A strong communicator and collaborator who enjoys working with the Board, colleagues, partners and stakeholders to create meaningful programs, Michelle has worked in the private sector, not-for-profit organisations and government agencies. Michelle recently gained her Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) credentials and is looking forward to starting a new journey.
