Esme Bowen

Esme is Chair of the WA Carers Advisory Council reporting to the Minister; appointed in 2015 she is passionate about carers, and has lived experience in the care and support of family members.

Esme is a member on both the Ministers Community Volunteering Reference Group and the Ministers Plastics Working Group. She is a director of Volunteering Australia, The Paraplegic Benefit Fund, Deputy Chair Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Board Member of Disability Assembly WA.

She is RAC past President (2013-16 ) and Honorary Life Member, was an RAC Council member retiring in March 2020, a previous director of the Australian Automobile Association and member of the Ministers NDIS Transition Governance Advisory Group

Esme has also been President of the PMH Ex-Trainees Nursing and Associates, a member of the Children’s Hospital Alumni of WA board and has been previous Presidents of both the Wheelchair Sports WA Board ( now Rebound WA) , and of Wheelchair Sports Australia Board and served as a director on Disability Australia Board. She served as a guest member on the RFDS Consumers and Carers Advisory Council in 2020.

She has travelled extensively with athletes with a disability and has proudly attended all the Paralympic Games from Sydney 2000-to London 2012 inclusive.

Esme has been a company director of, and remains involved in, a Perth-based family surf business. She has been involved in tourism and hospitality ventures in the Kimberley region of WA. Esme has almost 30 years of nursing , health advocacy ,disability and has worked as a community road safety advocate for many years.
