Chelsea Blissett

Former Young Matildas star, Chelsea Blisset is a professional footballer and member of the Brisbane Roar Liberty A-League team.

Chelsea made her professional debut with Melbourne City in 2018/19, making 44 appearances and two goal assists in her 5-year stint with the club. During the 2019/20 W League season, Chelsea also celebrated a W-League Premiership and Championship with the club. In her debut season, Chelsea also found time to represent Australia, helping the Young Matildas qualify for the AFC Under-19 Women’s Championship by scoring two goals in three victory matches.

Chelsea started playing football at the age of 7 in Albury Wodonga, New South Wales. When she was 15, Chelsea moved from Albury to Sydney and then to Melbourne to pursue semi-professional football in the National Premier Leagues competition, as well as attend youth national team programs. While in Sydney, Chelsea secured a full scholarship at the Future Matildas program.

Off the field, Chelsea balances coaching part-time with her university studies in nutrition and dietetics. Having struggled with her relationship with food in the past, Chelsea is a passionate advocate for change around how football and sport talk about eating disorders and strives to maintain openness about the pressures she faces not just as an aspiring athlete, but as a young woman growing up in a hyper-visual culture.
