Cecile Wake

Cecile is Vice-President Commercial & NBD at Shell Australia, with accountability for portfolio management and the commercial arrangements that underpin Shell's oil & gas investments in Australia. Cecile also has oversight of Shell Australia’s hydrocarbon and New Energies growth funnels.Cecile joined Shell in February 2016 following the combination with BG Group, where she was most recently Growth Director at QGC with accountability for Commercial, Business Development; Contracts & Procurement; Exploration and Supply & Optimization. Prior to assuming commercial leadership roles at BG Group and Shell, Cecile was a partner at leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills in London where she was based for 9 years and her Corporate Energy practice focused on complex cross-border oil, gas and LNG project development, energy commodity sales and high-value M&A transactions in the oil, gas and mining sectors. Cecile is a director of Shell Energy Australia and Shell New Energies Australia. Outside Shell, Cecile is a member of the Senate of the University of Queensland, where she serves on the Finance and Campus Infrastructure Committees, is Chair of the St. Aidan’s Anglican Girls School Council and an Asia-Pacific Advisory Board for The Hawthorn Club for Executive Women in Global Energy. Cecile earned a B.Econ and LLB (Hons) from the University of Queensland in 1991 and 1995 respectively. She represented Australia at seven World Championships and multiple World Cups in the sport of Modern Pentathlon between1995 - 2000. Cecile and her husband, Alex, have two children and live in Brisbane, Australia.
