Cara Feain-Ryan

Cara Feain-Ryan, is a two-time Australian representative in the open women’s 3000m Steeplechase. In 2023, Cara won consecutive titles in the 3000m Steeplechase at the Australian Athletics Championship and World University Games in China. Later that year, Cara competed at the World Championships in Budapest where she clocked a personal best of 9:29.60, moving from 10th to 6th ranked All Time Australian in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

Cara started her involvement in athletics running cross country at primary school in Alstonville NSW, before progressing through district, regional and State Championships. Within 12 months of making her first track Nationals appearance at age 15, Cara went on to win the National U18 title in the 2000m Steeplechase.  

Cara has dedicated her life to athletics both on and off the track, working as a cross-country and middle-distance coach for young athletes aged 6 to 18 at Moreton Bay College, Brisbane. Cara describes coaching as more than just a job, as it allows her to give back to her sport by helping inspire and mentor a new generation of young sportswomen.  

Outside of athletics, Cara is a fourth-year Speech Pathology (Honours) student at the University of Queensland, where she has also been a sporting scholarship recipient for the past 6 years.

After narrowly missing selection for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Cara has her sights firmly set on making the Olympic team for Paris 2024.
