Bronte Campbell

Bronte Campbell is a 3 time Olympic swimmer who has won 27 international medals over the course of her 11 year career.

Born in Africa, Malawi, her Olympic dream, fuelled by watching the 2000 Olympic Games, really came to life when she moved to Australia in 2001.

It was ten years later when she secured selection for the 2012 London Olympics, where she made the Semi Finals in the 50m freestyle as an 18 year old. Bronte and her older sister Cate became the first Australian siblings to compete in the same event.

2013 saw Bronte team up with Cate to win a World Championships Silver Medal in the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay, with two more Silvers to follow at the Short-Course World Championships of 2014.

Her first golden moments came at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with victory in the 4 x 100m Freestyle and 4 x 100m medley events.

Her Commonwealth haul of two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze gave Campbell the confidence to take on the world and she starred at the 2015 World Championships, winning three Gold medals and one bronze becoming only the fourth women in history to win both the 50m and 100m freestyle at the same World Championships.

Bronte won her first Olympic gold in Rio the following year as part of Australia’s world record-breaking 4 x 100m Freestyle team.

A home Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018 proved to be an unforgettable experience as Bronte collected another 3 Golds and a Silver, including a memorable win over sister Cate in the 100m Freestyle to go with victories in the 4 x 100m Freestyle and 4 x 100m medley.

She continued her success at the 2019 World Championships, adding another two Golds and a Silver to her already-stacked trophy cabinet.

In June of 2021, Bronte qualified for her third Olympic Games in Tokyo. It was at these Games the 4x100m Freestyle team won Gold for the second consecutive games, breaking their own World Record in the process. Bronte also swam in the 4×100 Mixed Medley Relay, the first time it had been competed at the Olympics, which went on to win bronze.
