Amy Ridge

Raised in Sydney, Amy is one of the younger members of the Australian women’s water polo team (the ‘Aussie Stingers’). Her involvement in the Australian youth team and talent programs meant it was a natural progression for Ridge into the senior team where she debuted in 2017 at the FINA World League Intercontinental Tournament in Sacramento, where the Stingers won gold. She has been a consistent member of the team ever since, having played over 80 games for Australia and vying for a spot on the team at the Tokyo Olympics next year. Recently, she won a bronze medal with the Stingers at the FINA World Championships 2019. In a testament to her strength in Australian water polo, she was named in the OVO Australian Water Polo League All Star Team in 2019 and was ranked the second highest goal scorer in the 2018 competition. As well as training and competing, Amy is studying Arts/ Law at UNSW with a Distinction average. She is interested in human rights and the issues in our criminal justice system. With the help of Minerva, she hopes to use her skills gained both in the pool and in the classroom to explore future career opportunities.
