Allie Smith

A Geelong native who came through the Netball Victoria Pathway, Allie Smith first represented her State at the underage National Netball Championships before going on to play in the Australian Netball League (the former feeder competition for Suncorp Super Netball) with the Victorian Fury.

In 2020, Allie was named in an extended Melbourne Vixens squad for that year’s Super Netball competition which had relocated to Queensland as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

A versatile defensive midcourter, who mainly plays at wing defence and goal defence, Allie seized her opportunity with a string of impressive performances for the Vixens and went on to play in the 2020 Grand Final as the Melbournians claimed their third Premiership and first of the Super Netball era.

As a result of this Allie was awarded her first fulltime playing contract with the Vixens in 2021 before getting a call from NSW Swifts head coach Briony Akle about relocating to Sydney at the end of that year.

Allie signed for the 2021 Premiers and was quick to make an impact with the Club, becoming Swift No.100 when she debuted in Round 1, 2022 against the Giants in a huge Grand Final rematch.

It was a key milestone for Allie to play for both the Swifts and Vixens, widely regarded to be the two biggest Clubs in Australian netball in terms of following and titles won.

Now a key part of the senior playing team at the Swifts, Allie balances her athlete commitments with her other passion: healthcare and working to help people with disabilities.

She is part of the brilliant team at What Ability, an NDIS support service which brings happiness to people living with a disability.

They provide one-to-one support to bring some fun into lives of people that need it most; from bushwalks to beach days, cafe trips to holiday camps.

Allie works alongside range of other athletes including fellow Super Netball players and athletes from the NRL, Rugby Union, AFL and Basketball, among others.
