Aisling McCarthy

Aisling McCarthy is a GAA and AFLW player from Ireland, currently residing in Perth, WA. As well as being an all-star nominee LGFA player for Tipperary, Aisling also has played 2 seasons of AFLW with the Western Bulldogs, 4 seasons with West Coast Eagles before making a move to Fremantle Dockers for the upcoming season. She signed on a 4 year deal. Aisling was voted as one of West Coast Eagles Most Valuable Players for the AFLPA MVP awards in 2021. Aisling was also twice crowned the Runner-up Eagles Club Champion in 2021 & 2022. Aisling also received votes in the overall AFLW Player of the Year votes at the W Awards in 2021,2022 & 2023.

Growing up she played Camogie and Gaelic football, focusing on the latter at inter-county level as she got older. In 2016, she captained her club Cahir to win the All-Ireland intermediate club camogie title in Croke Park. In football, she has been an integral part of the Tipperary ladies football setup for several seasons. In 2017 she helped Tipperary win the All-Ireland intermediate ladies football final, scoring 1-4 in a player-of-the-match display. As a result of her exceptional performance that year she was awarded intermediate player of the year. In 2019, she was again part of the Tipperary Intermediate All-Ireland winning side. She was nominated for a midfield All-Star after her performances. Outside of sport, Aisling graduated as a Physiotherapist in May 2018 and enjoys all things health and fitness. Aisling currently works casually as a Physiotherapist on the wards at SJOG Mount Lawley. Aisling is an APPI certified Pilates instructor. While at the Eagles, Aisling work in the Community & Games Development department where she implemented the SOAR programme in schools across WA. This entailed education sessions on high performance, injury prevention and nutrition. Aisling has experience in coaching, kids clinics and summer programmes.
