Minerva Network extends our congratulations to Michele Windsor on her appointment to the board of Sport NSW.

Michele Windsor brings decades of leadership experience in the Asia Pacific financial services industry, combined with her deep passion for sports. Her journey as a sports person with a disability, including being part of the Paralympic movement during its formative years and holding national records in long jump and breaststroke, adds a unique perspective to the Sport NSW board.

Growing up in Central Western NSW, Michele experienced firsthand the support of her local community, which encouraged her to explore various sports. She firmly believes that participation in sports is essential for creating a well-functioning community, emphasising that it goes beyond physical fitness.

“Sport doesn't only help with fitness but teaches life skills, brings people together, and has great psychological benefits,” Michele says.

“This director opportunity was highlighted to me via Minerva Network. I’m looking forward to serving Sport NSW and advocating for the role of sport in building healthy and connected communities.”

Minerva Network Executive Director Lesley Grant expressed her delight at Michele's appointment.

"In developing the Minerva Network Sports Governance Program, our goal is to increase the number of suitably experienced women on the boards and committees of sporting organisations, ensuring diversity of thought and strong representation from women in shaping these organisations. We’re delighted to see Michele’s appointment to the Board of Sport NSW and extend our sincere and warmest congratulations."

The Minerva Network Sports Governance Program is creating a pipeline of experienced candidates available within our Australia-wide network, connecting mentors and athletes with search and advisory firms as well as sporting organisations. Through this program, Minerva aims to break down barriers and provide more opportunities for talented women to contribute their expertise and leadership skills to the sports industry.
