On the eve of leaving Australia to join the Australian cricket team in India to compete in the cricket ODI World Cup, international cricketer Mitchell Starc has announced he is joining our Minerva Network as an Ambassador standing alongside rugby legend Phil Kearns AM.
Starc plays for the Australian National team and NSW in domestic cricket. A left arm fast bowler and lower order left handed batsman Starc represents Australia in all three formats of international cricket. He is regarded as one of the best limited overs bowlers of all time. Starc is passionate about supporting the aspirations of Australians professional sportswomen.
Married to international cricketer, Australian Captain and Minerva Athlete Alyssa Healy, Starc said, “The momentum across women’s sport in Australia over the past 6 years has been incredible. While I am biased in suggesting our cricketers led the way, they have been in great company with so many other sportswomen excelling in both worldwide and national competition. Aussie professional sportswomen punch well above their weight and the impetus the Minerva Network has added “off the field“ is also setting gold class standards. As a Minerva Network Ambassador I will be adding my voice in supporting the Minerva Networks' growth ambition at a really exciting time”.
Minerva is engaging with and supporting over 600 athletes, representing 70 sports codes. Some of Australia’s highest profile female athletes already benefit from being part of the Minerva Network and they are now calling on their peers and other female athletes to join and reap the same rewards they have enjoyed from Minerva. The Minerva Network provides something that no-one else does or can do: tapping into women leaders and connecting them with elite female athletes.
