In the lead up to International Day of People with a Disability (3rd Dec) Minerva is delighted to  announce that Jane Spring will join the Minerva Council as NSW Co-Chapter Leader. Jane is the Chair of the NSW Disability Council and a Council Member of the Australian Disability Advisory Council. Partnering with her ocean swimming buddy and Minerva co-founder/ director Romilly Madew AO, CEO of Engineering Australia, in leading the NSW Chapter. Jane and Rom will provide their expertise and experience to help Minerva to enable sportswomen to reach their goals.

“I’m delighted to be appointed as the NSW Co-Chapter lead for Minerva Network, which helps athletes thrive as role models and leaders in sport and prepare for their transition to the next stage of their career” Jane commented.

“I would have loved to have had a Minerva mentor while I was an athlete: To have had a partner as I planned for my transition out of sport and into a successful corporate career would have made a huge difference to me.”

Minerva currently supports 30 Paralympians and athletes with a disability from 11 different sports, including Madison de Rozario OAM, Ellie Cole OAM, Katja Dedekind PLY and Rae Anderson, and aims to grow the number of athletes with a disability it supports.  

Jane and Romilly take over the role from Ann Sherry AO, who is joining Dr Sarah Kelly OAM as Queensland Co-Chapter Leader following Ann’s relocation interstate.

At the launch of the Friends of Women in Sport Parliamentary Group at Parliament House earlier in the week, Minerva announced that Gabrielle Curtin, Group Executive at Snowy Hydro, will join Lucille Bailie as Co-Chapter Lead for ACT.

“It's a great honour to take on this role with Lucille Bailie” Gabrielle said.  

“As businesswomen, we believe the opportunity to further profile and mentor these exceptional sportswomen will assist in female sport being accorded the same recognition and professional status as men's sport.

“The growth potential of the Minerva Network is limitless due to the willingness and goodwill of mentors and mentees to jointly contribute to and build Minerva together.”
