MINERVA ATHLETES IMPRESS AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES

We're just over half way through the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and the first 6 days have produced exceptional results for our Minerva Athletes. With plenty more to come over the next 5 days, here are the results so far for our Minerva Athletes.

3x3 Wheelchair Basketball: Silver! 🥈

Aquatics- Swimming and Para Swimming

Katja Dedekind: Gold 🥇 and a World Record, Women’s S13 50m Freestyle

Jenna Strauch: Silver 🥈 Women’s 200m Breaststroke & 5th Women’s 50 Breaststroke

Ellie Cole OAM PLY: 5th place in the S9 100m Freestyle, and her final race representing Australia

Ella Jones: 6th S8 100m Backstroke and SB6 100 Breaststroke

Isabel Vincent: 5th S8 100m Backstroke and SB6 100m Breaststroke

Lani Pallister: Bronze 🥉 Women’s 800m Freestyle. 5th 400m Freestyle

Lakeisha Patterson 5th 200m IM SM10

Athletics & Para Athletics

Madison de Rozario: Gold 🥇 T53/54 Women’s Marathon

Rhiannon Clarke: Bronze 🥉 T37/38 100m

Ella Pardy: 5th T37/38 100m

Catriona Bisset: 800m – 2nd in Heat 3, qualified for the Final on Saturday 6th.

Badminton:

Gronya Somerville: 9th Mixed Teams, won Round of 32 in Women's Teams

Cycling- track: Breanna Hargrave 11th Women’s Sprint

Cycling – Mountain Bike: Zoe Cuthbert Silver 🥈

Cricket: Australia won against India, Barbados and Pakistan to finish top of Group A and will play New Zealand or England in the Semi Final on Friday.

Gymnastics: Emily Whitehead, Bronze 🥉 – Floor, and Silver 🥈- Teams

Hockey: Australia won against Kenya, South Africa, New Zealand and  Scotland, to finish top of Pool B and will likely play India in the semi final on Friday

Netball: Australia won against Barbados, Scotland, South Africa and Wales and sit top of Pool A with 1 pool game remaining vs Jamaica

Rugby 7s: Gold 🥇

Minerva Athletes Demi Hayes, Dominique du Toit, Charlotte Caslick and Sharni Williams OAM OLY, with Emilee Cherry as assistant coach.

Squash: Donna Lobban – 9th Women’s Singles

Weightlifting:

Sarah Cochrane: Silver 🥈, Women’s 64kg Class

Kiana Elliott: 4th Women’s 71kg Class
