INTRODUCING THE MINERVA SPORTS GOVERNANCE PROGRAM

Image:

The Minerva Network is the only Australian organisation of its kind, offering over 300 elite sportswomen (Minerva Athletes) an opportunity to access mentoring from some of Australia’s most senior corporate and professional women (Minerva Mentors) enabling the athletes to realise their full potential on and off the field.

The Minerva Sports Governance Program will create a pipeline of women Directors for sporting organisations and address the imbalance of gender diversity on sporting governance bodies. With over 200 leading businesswomen across Australia engaged in our mentoring program, many of these talented Minerva Mentors are already experienced and capable in sports governance. This enables the organisation to provide support and guidance to Minerva Mentors who do transition onto sporting boards through specific programs currently in development. Over time Minerva will open these programs to a broader audience.

Through this initiative, Minerva plans to provide, to Sporting Organisations, access to Minerva Mentors who are willing and interested to step onto sports boards and equipped to do so, either through suitable previous experience or through enhanced training.

This governance program supports the Her Sport Her Way Strategy of the NSW Office of Sport and its goals to improve the diversity of sporting organisation boards.
