Maddy Proud is the current co-captain of the NSW Swifts netball team competing in the Suncorp Super Netball competition and is a member of the Australian Netball Diamonds squad.
Born in Adelaide, Maddy was the youngest player to be signed to a professional netball team at the age of 16. She played with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship from 2011-2016 before making the move to Sydney to play with the Swifts.
Maddy captained the Australian 21&Under team, leading them to a silver medal at the World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow in 2013. In her debut season for the NSW Swifts, Maddy was named the Club’s MVP for 2017, and was also voted the Members’ Player of the Year at the Swifts’ Annual Gala Dinner. She again won these awards in 2022.
In 2018, Maddy represented Australia at the Fast Five World Series in Melbourne and debuted for the Diamonds in 2022.
Off the court, Maddy has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) and a Masters in Creative writing. She is also a published children’s author, with her first book, Grace on the Court, released in early 2018 and the equal, Grace back on Court, released in 2022.
