Dominique Mecoy OAM

Dominique Mecoy OAM has worked across elite sport, science, zoos, food, cemeteries and Premier and Cabinet.  She is now the CEO of Leadership WA, a not-for-profit organisation which provides experiential leadership development, creating leaders galvanised to develop themselves and create positive impact upon the community.

Driven by an enduring commitment to supporting the development of others, after a successful career in the public service, in 2018 Dominique chose to move into the not-for-profit sector and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Leadership WA (LWA) since January 2018, re-building the organisation into a successful, well-respected and financially sustainable business.    As a values-driven leader, Dominique has demonstrated achievements in turning business around; leveraging relationships for positive effect; excellence in governance; delivering positive outcomes in customer service and operational delivery and respected leadership. With a respected career in government and now not-for-profit sector, Dominique’s ability to see and execute opportunities has resulted in enduring success across many organisations. In her time at the WA Department of Premier and Cabinet she created and delivered the OnBoardWA initiative to increase female representation on WA Government Boards and she is a passionate supporter to see women succeed across any endeavour, providing mentoring support to many women.

Dominique holds an Executive Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Arts with language majors (French, German and English) and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing. She is a Fellow of Leadership WA, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is a qualified Civil Celebrant.  She was a WA State Finalist for the 2020 Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards, was Specially Commended in the 2017 Institute of Public Administration Australia Achievement Awards for Leader of the Year and was named the 2016 Leadership WA Distinguished Fellow. In 2024, she was awarded a Medal of the Order (OAM) in acknowledgement for her service to business and community. Dominique is a National Board Director of The Leadership Network and has previously been Chair of TADWA – Technology for Ageing and Disability WA.

She has competed nationally, representing Western Australia in dragon-boating in two Australian Championships. Dominique uses dragonboating for corporate team-building, using the sport to engage people in on-water collaboration and also to raise funds for breast cancer research.  She has completed the Ride for Youth, riding 700kms to raise funds for youth mental health. She doesn’t like sitting still for long.
